Teaching the fundamentals of Windows 98 for new users, this book also highlights new features and changes for those upgrading to Windows 98. This edition also covers the latest version of Internet Explorer. Users will be able to reap the benefits of the new features of Windows 98, such as ActiveDesktop, great backup and recovery software, and TV Viewer quickly and easily.
I think this is a good book for someone who wants to learn Windows 98 from scratch, but also interesting for the more experienced user looking to make use of all of the features included in this software.Personally I'm a comfortable user who wanted to discover the new features (vs. Windows 95), and learn tips and shortcuts on how to use this new operating system more efficiently. From this perspective, this book gave me satisfaction. I learned a few shortcuts and features I hadn't discovered after using it for about 6 monthes. The interesting paragraphs are clearly highlited with icons, it's good for somebody who doesn't want to take the time to read it from cover to cover. This way, the 1-hour lessons takes more like 15 minutes each !Now I'm not too sure about spending the money to buy it (I just borrowed it from my local library). I think it makes sense only if you're a total beginner and/or uncomfortable with a computer, so that you will need constant access to it (like my dad ! :).
