My new job required me to write a feature rich MFC application with no previous Windows programming experience. I got this book after having a fantastic expirence with Sam's "Teach Yourself HTML 4.0 in 24 Hours" a few years ago. It simply covers MFC architecture and introduces a wide range of topics including doument/view, printing, Multiple Document Interface and UI topics, and creating DLLS and wizards. This book might not be the only book you'll need, but it helped to smooth out the VERY steep MFC learning curve for me. Between this and the comprehensive documentation that comes with Microsoft Visual Studio, you should be able to start banging out feature rich MFC programs after a few hours of honest, dedicated effort.
Goes some way to destroying the mystery surrounding MFC

OK I had to wait for the code also, but once I got a hold of the code I found it easy to get the examples up and runnning. I had previously pushed myself through chapmans "Teach yourself VC++ in 21 Days" My first ever VC++ book. What an effort that was. It had on real indepth explanation and bugged examples. What a relief it was to have MFC slowly and clearly explained to me. This book is excellent for those who, like me, are just getting the hang of MFC.
