"Great Story with Wonderful Morals"

This is a lovely, wholesome story and just what I want my kids to be reading. In addition to the obvious appeal of this for both girls and boys [the horse aspect] this story expresses a nice set of values. That seems to be somewhat hard to find in children's books these days. The illustrations are very traditional and classic and compliment the story nicely. This is everything a children's horse book should be and will probably inspire both girls and boys to eventually read books like Flicka, the Black Stallion, Misty, and the Phantom Stallion series. I am a teacher and a mother of two young children, and I highly recommend this book for children ages five to nine.
