"And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" (Matthew 24:3) Just before His ascension, they had a similar question while standing on the same mountain. "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." (Acts 1:6-7) This was not what they were looking for, but it is what Christ promised them in Matthew 4:19.What do we as believers and Christians have power over in the work of God? How many missionaries come off the field each year? How are we to obey Christ in going into ALL the world to EVERY creature? Is my church strategically and purposefully spreading the gospel, or is it at random? How many churches are raising up missionaries? How does my church start or strengthen its rope (the missions program)? Does my church have a plan to complete the Commission? In this book we ponder these questions and others concerning world evangelism, starting with our individual responsibility then corporately through the local church. Through this book, we endeavor to help others be more diligent in doing what the Father and Christ expect of us.Christ answered the first question in Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." He told them what the Father put in His own power, but He did not leave them powerless. "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight." (Acts 1:8-9)
