Who says you have to go overseas to study abroad? A cruise on the backroads of the United States can be as foreign an experience as any--Americana is just down the road. Let's Go Roadtripping USA is the perfect guide to experiencing the world's melting pot on a shoestring and a fan belt. This book's eight chapters give eight different itineraries to choose from: Route 66 or the Oregon Trail for the classicists, the Great North or the National Road for the outdoorsmen, the East Coast or Pacific Coast for cosmopolitans, and the Deep South or the Southern Border for those with a drawl. You can even mix and match to create your own once-in-a-lifetime trip.
This book shares classic road trips across the US. It plans out the route, what hotels to stay in and where to eat. There is some history about roads in the front which is interesting for families. It would make a good book for family roadtrips as it also has games to play during roadtrips.
The BEST book for a first time roadtripper

I went on my very first road trip from California to Virginia, up to Canada and back into the USA through Michigan, stopping along the way at various spots to sight see and eat. This book was the best investment for that trip. All the places that were editor's choices to see and eat were absolutely great! The book is broken up by highway routes, so it tells you mile by mile what you'll see on the way and things you might be interesting in stopping to take a closer look at. In large cities such as San Francisco and Washington D.C. they provide street maps so it enhances your navigation through unknown places. I had a great experience with this book and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a little help in knowing what is worth seeing and what isn't.
