Far from a misery-memoir, Rissoles, Arseholes, Sausages and Chips chronicles the hilarious lives of a three boys dragged up by bohemian, globe-trotting British military parents. From England, Germany, Hong-Kong, Singapore and finally Africa, this story journeys the reader through times-forgotten; to places and impossible circumstance. My mother employed the skills of an African witch doctor to vanquish my father's mistress, setting in train a chain events leading to a tragedy deep in the Botswana outback. Furthermore, my black-sheep, bigamist brother's ex-wife's escape from an English nuthouse played no small part in this event. All the while, we watch the boys scatter to all parts of the world on unspeakable adventures while the parents head to a derelict French chateau to lick their wounds and find solace. Rissoles, Arseholes, Sausages and Chips is a play on the military acronym RASC, translated to Royal Army Services Corps, where my father always said the food was horrific - hence the title.
