In a manic flurry, Peter decides against his better judgment, and that of his wife, to open a used bookstore he calls Redcup. Lacking business savvy, Peter launches headlong into the venture with visions of books, poetry readings, art shows, and live music.

Along the way he attracts a variety of characters, including Ned, who desperately needs a friend, Chester, a self-acclaimed anarchist, Mike, the homeless guy, and the very attractive Anna who leads Peter down a winding road to divorce.
