More useful to newbies than most other Linux books

I don't really qualify as a newbie anymore - but I wish I had this book when I started out. I must say that I own more than my fair share of Linux books, and this is the one that I refer to most of the time for a deeper understanding of stuff that I only 'kinda' know, or to find relevant, concise info about troubleshooting issues.I DON'T like reading online documentation. It's a waste of electricity, and besides, I haven't setup my scroll mouse. Reading that much material online would certainly give me a headache!Anyone who wants to be able to answer most of the posts you see for RedHat support should buy this book. Don't be intimidated by the fact that it's a cert guide. It will serve you well even after you are quite experienced.

The best I have seen

This book does exactly what it advertises to do. prepare you for the RHCE. Those in need of a beginners guide should look elsewhere.MCSE books tend to tell the right answer, the wrong answer, and the answer that MS wants you to answer on the test. This book gives you clear info w/ out feeding you propaganda from RH, or present facts and scenarios that you will never see in a real world environment.

Fantastic Resource/Study guide

This book is very well done. Like some of the other reviewers here I've found that it's an excellent way to study for the RHCE exam, and has found its way onto my bookshelf as a resource- I open it often. I understand the comment in regards to the CD, but in my opinion it's an absolute shame to criticize this book because of the CD. (Although I did find the CD of particular use)...

Excellent Study Aid, and Resource

This book really did the job for me. I've used it in my studies for the RHCE exam, but also have found myself referring to it multiple times as I go about my everyday Red Hat business. Strong sections on Advanced User Admin, especially surrounding modifications to /etc/fstab. I also learned a bit from the Kernel recompilation and installation sections. I noticed that this book was written by many qualified indivisuals, but it was especially nice to see some of the main contributors holding the RHCE and RHCX certifications- seems like people in the know about what's up with the product, and the certification. I do recommend experience as a key to learning and knowing the info. but this book will help!

I passed

I have a fair amount of experience using Linux, and I bought this book to help study for my exam. I passed pretty easily, and I have this book to partially thank. The contnet of the exam (and the book) is difficult stuff, and it's obvious that these authors really understand it. Thanks.
