A cookery classic

I have had this book for a long time, and love it. The author puts together recipes around different themes (eg. a Valentines day weekend), etc. All of the recipes can be made ahead to avoid last minute fussing. My kind of cooking. The recipes I have tried are wonderful. Beyond that, the author adds commentary on each set of menus, mixed in with interesting food history. She is a great writer. The book is great to browse through, even when you don't feel like cooking.
