This book was picked up on a whim as a graduation gift and I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of insight this book relays while not being preach-y. The book is written by a high school teacher and parent who undertands the pressures young adults have encountered when going away to college. When you read this book you truly get the feeling that he wants to help the reader make good choices. Morality issues are addressed in text and cartoon and the points are made without turning off the reader. Of course there are plenty of practical issues addressed such as "What should I bring to college?" to make it very worthwhile just for that reassurance. As a bonus the student also gets encouragement to make good decisions and to avoid the bad ones. Where was this book 20+ years ago when I went away to college?
