I wasn’t expect much but was very pleasantly surprised

I really enjoyed this book. It has depth, heart, and a story of redemption and self-discovery, done the hard way. The beautiful illegitimate daughter of a stern Irish mother, Maeve returns from NYC with a terrible set of secrets. Her Italians school friends have moved on with their lives, but gradually her story comes out, to them and to her new employers, as she takes a job that leads her into her new life. But to get there she has to figure out why a girl she met in NYC needs her help, and how to help without completely losing herself. The end is lovely with a vision of the future for her, and unexpectedly, for others in her circle.
