At just thirty-three years old, Ram n L pez Velarde (1888-1921) died of pneumonia after a nighttime walk through the streets of Mexico City. With him, a chapter of Mexican poetry comes to a close, one that found its splendor during the bloody revolutionary years. It is impossible to know whether he will continue to be read in the future.
