Book Overview

It's Christmas Eve morning on the track, and the fans are filling the stands to watch a special holiday race. Everything is going according to plan, but as the drivers begin to enter the track, a new car pulls up, ready to join the Christmas competition.

It's Santy Claus, and he's prepared for anything with his tinsel-covered racecar and his red, fireproof suit. On his helmet are paintings of delicious fudge and bon bons that look good enough to eat. Santy's traveled across the globe and back, all in one night, but this Christmas Eve, here on the track, old Saint Nick is in for a challenge.

With peppermint candies and jingle bells rolling around the car, Santy must outrace the best drivers in the league. Colorful illustrations bring the story to life and add to the excitement as Santy must overcome flying debris to win this race. Exciting and hilarious, Racecar Night Before Christmas is a perfect addition to the Night Before Christmas Series and any holiday collection.

Lead, Follow, Or Get Out Of The Way!!!!

Everyone needs a hobby and Santa is no exception. A liitle known facet of Christmas lore is the car race that Santa enters on Christmas morning. Celebrity race drivers are nothing new; two of the more famous would be Tom Cruise and Paul Newman, and, like them, Santa more than holds his own in his own souped up version of the Thunderbolt Greaseslapper with a most unusual pit crew as he participates in the Jingle Bell Jammer. The old gent does have his own peculiar methods and proves once again one should never drink and drive even if it's only root beer. This book is an absolute hoot and for those who are so tired of all the same old editions of Night Before Christmas, a welcome relief. You'll need to pay close attention to all of the full color illustrations; there's plenty going on in the detailed pictures. By the way, check out Ms Townsend's other book, Grady's in the Silo, an Oklahoma Book Award Winner for 2004. Well done!!
