-----A real book for beginners-----

This is a great book for anyone wanting to learn to quilt! It begins with information about the basic materials you need to quilt. They include scissors, rotary cutter, pencils, templates, pins, thread, needles, rulers, fabrics and batting. The items are explained and the reader is told how best to use them. There are directions for making templates, using a rotary cutter, hand stitching and also basic machine stitching. A section called Working with Color explains how to choose and mix your color fabrics. The author takes you step by step into twelve different projects. The instructions are concise and the pictures are close up and easy to see. There are a lot of quilting how-to-books out there, but so many of them are too advanced for most beginners. This book is not intimidating and can give a novice the sewing skills needed to make a quilt! Judith Miller
