What a lovely little book! Although the book is only 140 pages long, it is full of wonderful ideas for ushering your daughter into womanhood. Using the story of Esther as a plan, the author suggests topics to study with your daughter, from beauty to emotions to finances. I appreciate the author's point of view on many subjects, including the delicate subject of beauty. It is important that adolescent girl learn she is stunningly beautiful as the Creator intended when He worked his craftmanship on her. The author points this out. Each month offers suggestions for a Beauty Treat. One month suggest jewelry shopping, another suggests a pedicure. Can you imagine how special you would have felt had your mother followed the suggestions in this book for a year? The book is for mothers of daughters who are approximately ages 11-13, although I will start reading it with my 10 year old this summer.

Even though my daughter is only eight, I can't wait until she turns 11 so I can put this book into practice. In today's beauty driven world, its refreshing to know that there is a 'better' way to teach our daughters about true beauty. Ginger Garrett uses the lessons learned in the Old Testament book of Esther to help us teach our daughters. It's a year long journey of mother/daughter bonding. Every chapter is a lesson, along with the lesson are ideas on quality time together. I encourage all mothers of daughters to read this book. It will help shed light on those difficlt teenage years.
