Quarter Life: Chronicles of Adulting, Part 1

Time has come for Haze to behave like an adult and figure out a purpose in life. He and his friends are post-college bachelors in modern-day San Francisco, with a social life full of shenanigans. Despite their antics, they develop careers and romantic relationships while Haze struggles to find his place. He becomes overwhelmed, ditches work for a day, and examines his place in life while watching Star Wars movies.

He gets out of his funk after meeting a champagne-loving, athletic farm girl named Alex at the BottleRock music festival in Napa. Alex challenges Haze to a few hiking excursions in the Northern California mountains, where he nearly wimps out of their relationship and returns to his bad habits, but instead, he has an epiphany - he wants to be a dad someday.

Throughout the story, he struggles to connect with his plain-vanilla parents and their misbehaving dog. At the same time, he develops a relationship with Alex's admirable father, Rick, who offers him a job with his walnut farming business in Capay Valley. After Haze and Alex return from a marathon summer of travel to rambunctious weddings and reunions, he finally steps up, makes a career decision, and proposes to Alex. They go to Belize for their honeymoon, where he realizes how far he has come personally, but he still has questions about his path in life.

Quarter Life is a light-hearted, 200-page tale about the trials and tribulations of transitioning into adulthood. It reminds us of new adult life when we had roommates, figured out careers, dealt with parents, and eventually got married and had babies. Most of the story takes place in Northern California. The characters enjoy concerts, sporting events, hiking, golfing, California food, wine, beer, and weed. Pop-culture references to familiar TV shows, movies, books, and music are frequently made. Laugh, reminisce, and connect with this story while relaxing on your lounge chair with a cocktail.
