I have a long memory for certain events in my life: crib memories, asthma attacks, etc. But I do remember when fed margarine for the first time. My taste buds did not react normally; this would have been in the early fifties (I was born 1946). So when the cholesterol scare came about, most people bought the message; but in my case, not fully. Something was definitely afloat as more and more nut and seed oils appeared on the shelves which were not there prior to the "scare." I remember one poor man who was placed on a no egg yolk diet, because we all know that is bad for the heart. Enter Natasha Campbell-McBride. Finally someone with the bravery to speak and write openly about the subject. She validates everything I learned while minoring in zoology, and verified my experiences while dissecting cat and foetal pig: their systems were entirely cholesterol. Imagine the harm I would have inflicted by prescribing drugs. Of course the argument could be made in the opposite direction; but I am not all that convinced because Big Pharma shall ensure their profits in statins and oncology remains a breadbasket for profits for another 100 years. This would leave the only alternative if biochemistry is the basis for a young person's decision, and that would be advanced studies in nutrition, as did Dr Natasha at Sheffield in U.K. All other alternative health practices, as good as they are, fall short in understanding our body as an entire system dependent on the health of the intestinal flora in our gut. So for the young ones out there contemplating health care, consider following Dr Natasha's footsteps; it is not necessary to be a neurosurgeon to arrive at her conclusions. If an ordinary person like myself comprehends Dr Haas's "Management of celiac disease," written for medical doctors, imagine what you can do for humanity without prescribing drugs or surgery. The choice is yours, with dramatically less in student loans. Choose wisely. But first read both of Dr Natasha's books within the context of gut physiology. Learn to cook, grind your grains and bake, ferment. Broaden your learning by studying different diets the worldover. Familiarize yourself with Price-Pottenger Foundation.
