I have tried punchneedle work and wasn't very happy with it. Now that I have read Ms Buehler's PUNCHNEEDLE FUN, I am going to give it another try. There were three things that stood our in PUNCHNEEDLE FUN. 1. I had purchased a kit that suggested using short lengths of floss. Ms Buehler uses lengths that would be long enough to complete a whole area - 5 - 6 feet. Compared to the 18 inches the kit suggested, no wonder I was always rethreading my needle and was frustrated with the time spent "preparing" rather than working. 2. I had problems with was the material staying taunt enough. Ms. Buehler explained how to hoop the fabric correctly and now my material stays taunt! 3. Making good use of material, Ms. Buehler uses a larger hoop and makes several small projects at the same time. Trace each onto the same piece of cloth, leaving ¼ to ½ inch between projects. The projects are bookmarks, needle book punchneedle case, pin cushions and scissors case. Embroidery floss is not the only thread you can use. Pearl Cotton, 2-ply yarn and metallic thread can all be used and add special touches to your projects. The instructions are well written with graphics to help explain what is written. Colored photos of each project help visualize the item and a list of resources is provided in case you have trouble locating a particular punchneedle material. Happy Punching!
