How to quickly understand the basics of publishing

If you are considering the alternatives of self-publishing or going with a traditional offset printing process, then you should get a copy of Johnson's book. The most valuable aspect is the book is printed using different weight papers and different processes. It is one thing to read a description of 50# or 60# paper, and another to actually have an example in your hand.
