Book Overview

The Prometheus Bound of Aeschylus: And the Fragments of the Prometheus Unbound is a book written by N. Wecklein and published in 1891. The book is a collection of two plays by the ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus. The first play is called Prometheus Bound and tells the story of Prometheus, a Titan who defies the gods by giving fire to humanity and is punished by being chained to a rock. The play explores themes of rebellion, punishment, and the power of the gods. The second play, Prometheus Unbound, is a fragmentary work that tells the story of Prometheus after he is released from his chains. The book includes a scholarly introduction by Wecklein that provides context and analysis of the plays, as well as notes and commentary on the text. The Prometheus Bound of Aeschylus: And the Fragments of the Prometheus Unbound is a valuable resource for anyone interested in ancient Greek drama and mythology. With Introduction And Notes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. It Is In Greek.

Unfortunately, the book is said to be in English, but the text by Aeschylus is in GREEK. I actually laughed out loud upon receiving the book and opening it. I genuinely do not understand how a book can put online that it is in English when the actual text is in a different language with no translation. I guess my mistake for not seeking out an edition that states who it was translated by??? For anyone wanting an English version of these texts, this is not what you are seeking…
