Must Have if You Want to Create a Great Site Fast!

This book is an excellent companion for the novice and expert site developer. With the book, a novice can create a functional site quickly. For the expert, the book provides insights into object oriented development with Dot Net. If you're thinking of downloading Dot Net Nuke, buy this book.

Excellent starter, but...

I found this book an excellent review on DotNetNuke for beginners. However, there are some things that are already outdated for the latest versions of DDN. For people who already tried DDN out, I would recommend just reading documentation that you download with the product.

Very comprehensive

An excellent book, perfect for beginners to advanced users. The first part of the book goes through how to configure and use DotNetNuke, with the remainder delving into more comprehensive topics such as the creation of your own "skins" and module development. Shaun gives an in-depth account of how many of the features work, and why they were implemented the way they were, which gives developers a good foundation to work from when coding. Finally, although it may seem obvious, this book is great in that it is an "all-in-one" resource - in the past, new users have had to scour the web to essentially "build their own manual".

Great Reference for DNN 3

Just got done reading (sometimes skimming) through the new book. Great job, guys! A lot of information that I did not know or fully understand. You obviously put a lot of time and sweat into the book, and I can't imagine how much into the product behind the book. As I do more module development this will make a great reference! Thanks again!

Comprehensive

From reading this book you get a sense of completion. The first chapter provides a in-depth history of DNN and how it became the popular application it is, this is something that could only be written by the core team, it really provides some great insights into this application. Subsequent chapters take you from installing DNN, all the way to developing against it. There is excellent coverage of the API, and four chapters on module development. There may have been some points that could have gone deeper, but this is one book you'll actually want to read and have as a reference, it is just a unique perspective from the developers of DNN, rather than just a reference book.
