The Primary Mathematics U.S. Edition series of elementary math textbooks and workbooks is meant to be part of a system of learning in which adult supervision and independent practice go hand in hand.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
These books challenge children to use what they already know in order to solve math exercises. The books incorporate plenty of colorful graphics that illustrate the concept being taught. Sometimes a page migh have only two questions on it because the graphics are used so extensively. My children's math ability and problem solving techniques have improved significantly since we switched to using these texts. There are plenty of pages for review and practice as well.
An excellent primary school math textbook

American educators are regularly reminded that the educational systems in other countries do a better job in teaching their students. While it is possible to dispute some of the statistics, the fact is that the evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the reminders. One of the best ways to explore the reasons for this is to look at the textbooks being used in other countries. This book is used to teach mathematics in the primary grades in Singapore, a nation with a proven track record of educational success. From the contents, it is clearly a superb teaching tool. Visual aids are extensively used and the examples are solved in a stepwise manner. I was impressed when reading it and would recommend it to any elementary school teacher. If I had known about it when my daughter was in elementary school, I would have purchased a copy.
