Well-written, evocative and emotive, this is a grief book that will help many people who are struggling to process the sudden loss of someone whom they deeply love, and will also be useful to those who are supporting them. Its unusual format, with voice note transcriptions prefacing the chapters, brings added poignancy. Kevin's narration as he records, then expands on his emotions following the heartbreaking loss of his dear wife Shirley to suicide, is impactful. Many will find themselves in tune with his feelings around grief, especially his depiction of the first year, which is inevitably so hard to bear.
