Interesting book at times

Once I got into the book it became more interesting. I have read dozens, maybe a couple hundred books by naturalists in my 77 years but this one seemed, for want of a better word, uneven. I grew up reading and re-reading Edwin Way Teale’s books on the four seasons so this fell a bit short. One good feature is that this book is much more up to date and I liked the size which makes it easy to backpack.
