A Historical Glance into the Layperson's LIfe of 1000-1300

This is short inquiry into the layperson's life of this period in the middle ages of 1000-1300. This inquiry is of the deductive variety, since there is little surviving historial documentation of such, so the look is into the pilgrimages, the relics, the art, the poetry, the architecture of this time. One is struck by the development of certain faith practices, such as purgatory, indulgences, mass of one kind, etc. The addition to this list of infant baptism I believe is challengable historically. My only detraction from this fine study is that there is little in the way of attempted analysis as to how this fits in church doctrine/practice over the ages since, and at times the detail of the evidence is a little tedious. However, the purpose of providing a peer into what was the layperson's spiritual life about is evident and fascinatingly presented.
