A unique reference containing detailed reviews of more than 900 drugs and poisons, the Poisoning and Toxicology Handbook, Fourth Edition provides the latest information on medicinal, biological,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I work in a medical library, and at one time, I ordered books as part of my job duties. When this one came in, I just had to look at it. I was surprised at the number of popular plants that were poisonous! All kinds of poisons are covered: industrial, medical, non-medical and biologicals. (my main interest is the plants) Antidotes, lab readings and poison control numbers are given as well. Even though this book is geared toward doctors, nurses, etc, I had no problem looking through and understanding it, and I don't think any layman would either. I'm considering buying a copy for myself because I do have plants and I do have pets, and even though my pets don't bother my plants, I would just like to know what I should keep out of reach of my inquisitive cat. Unfortunately, many gardening books do not list toxicity or lack thereof of plants, and good luck finding that information on the plant tags. There are no pictures/drawings of any type, and unless you know your plants, this could be a drawback.
