In the vein of Running with Scissors, Playground is the glitzy, glamorous, and surreal true story of a young girl who grew up inside the Playboy Mansion and never learned where the party stopped and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I started this book one night with the intention of just reading a couple chapters. Within a first couple pages I was hooked and couldn’t put it down!!! It was so good, I woke up early the next day, during the work week, to pick up where I left off (note I love sleeping in as much as I can). The stories of Jennifer and her growing up in Beverly Hills and her life at the Playboy Mansion during the 70s and 80s were fascinating. At one point, I found myself searching the internet to see if this book was truly “based on real life events”! I have read a handful of books about life at the Playboy Mansion and THIS book has to be the best one yet. Thank you Jennifer for being brave and telling your story!!!!

I really enjoyed this book. I was able to experience each emotion the author was experiencing while she went through it. I enjoyed her style of writing.

A fun glimpse inside the mansion world

Althought this book is about a girl who "grows up" at the mansion, it is more of a story of how poor parenting combined with a playboy mansion type environment can have a lasting impact on the development of a young girl. Yes, you will get a taste of what life and times are like at the mansion, but this is far from a documentary on the playboy mansion. Yes, this book could be added to the pile of cliche "look at me I had a rough childhood and survived..." books that are out there, but due to the excitement that comes with having Hef and a few playmates included every few pages this book is far from a cliche and is an enjoyable read for someone looking to enjoy a story about a girl who got to see inside the walls of a place most only imagine of ever visiting. This book is also well written and does a good job of keeping you excited and wanting to read more. Great job Jennifer, and thanks for sharing your story. I enjoyed it.
