Pillsbury gives today's home cooks the versatile, all-round baking book they need, filled with great recipes everyone will love. The text gives information on baking equipment and techniques as well as advice on cutting and storing.
This is a great baking cookbook and made from the Pillsbury name you know these recipes are tried and true. There is a recipe that starts with a sweet roll dough you make from scratch (flour, salt, yeast, sugar, etc) and then provides additives to make it caramel-nut or cinnamon. The caramel nut was a melt in your mouth treat, it was so delicious. There were directions to make it the night before if you want. For the other reviewer who said something about cooking from scratch all the cake mixes in this cookbook are made from scratch. You could make several up and have them on hand by for when you do need a cake mix. You could also layer in a jar and give as a gift adding the final directions on nice card stock attached to your jar. These cake mixes could be made for pennies and not the $1.99 they're going for at the grocery. From the basic cake mixes you could then make your cake into cookies n cream, oatmeal cake, mississippi mud, etc. Also, icings were provided from scratch as well. What I do like is that you can add the same amount of applesauce in place of oil in the recipes and significantly lower the fat content without losing moistness. The refrigerator cookies are made from scratch recipe. The make-ahead cookie dough can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or frozen for up to 6 weeks. There were 20 different variations of cookies from the one basic recipe. The cinnamon tea cakes were the absolute best. And add a cup of coffee and it doesn't get any better. Highly recommend this cookbook.

All the recipes are excellent, the only problem is when they ask for some products that are not sold here in Mexico, such as cookie dough already made, biscuit dough, etc.

This book is for the experienced and the new baker. It does not require far out ingredients for it's recipes nor are they hard to comprehend even for the person who states they don't know how to bake. I have won several contests for baking so I believe that I am a bit qualified to state that this will be #1 on my cookbook shelf.
