Attractive, fun, and flexible, paper mosaics are a fabulous new way to decorate furniture, spruce up a picture frame, transform a tea tray, or embellish a book cover. And because they use many of the same tools as scrapbooking and rubber-stamping, crafters who already enjoy those arts will find the 10 techniques introduced here a perfect fit. The skills proceed from simple to more complicated, starting with the basic process of backing the paper with poster board, cutting the tiles, gluing the pieces, and sealing and protecting the finished product. Page after page reveals colorful and unique items, including coasters, refrigerator magnets, tissue box holders, a backgammon board, wall hangings, a lidded box, a lampshade, clocks, and decorative mirrors.
I've checked this book out from the local library several times. It looks to be the best on the subject available (though with apparently little competition.) I thought I'd buy a copy to own. The price listed on the inner sleeve is $24.95. I hoped I could find a used copy at a lower price. Imagine my shock when all I could find were used copies at twice the price and new copies priced over three times the price! I guess I'll have to find the money to buy a used copy. I'm taking a class in traditional mosaics and think this would be a good way to sketch out a design as well as a viable medium in its own right. I worry that the price (used and new) will only continue to inflate. This doesn't appear to be out of print, but I've seen it listed for as much as $200.00 elsewhere online!
Excellent for learning another side of mosaics

I checked this book out from the library. The beauty and creativity of the work is amazing. Susan includes excellent instructions and beautiful pictures of the her work. I'm new to the world of mosaics and this affords me an alternative to traditional methods. Great book.
Beautiful images and useful information

I have seen Susan's artwork in several offices, galleries and art festival booths in the Salt Lake area, so was really pleased to discover her new book. I already knew enough to expect that her technique descriptions would be clear and concise, but what a surprise about the print quality of the book itself. This is no flimsy little newsprint job like so many other craft-oriented books one finds on the market. Hardcover, it is filled with beautiful, glossy color photographs that demonstrate her methods and display her art pieces. It is attractive enough for a coffee table, but it's so inspiring that i doubt it will spend much time outside of my workshop.
