In this volume, Tom Playfair meets a new boy just arriving at St. Maure's. Percy Wynn has grown up in a family of 10 girls and only 1 boy--himself His manners are formal, he talks like a book, and he has never played baseball or gone skating, boating, fishing, or even swimming Yet he has brains, courage and high Catholic ideals. Tom and his buddies at St. Maure's befriend Percy and have a great time as they all work at turning Percy into an all-American Catholic boy.
A wonderful book for boys. I can remember reading it almost 70 years ago and purchased it for my grandchildren. In addition to telling interesting stories, it provides an insight into history and how people, especially young boys lived in the latter part of the 19th Century.
An excellent book for young boys and girls!

I have read and reread this book since I was ten years old, and always enjoyed it! And I have given it to my children and grandchildren to read, and they also have enjoyed it! It is a book that remains in time, as Louisa May Alcott books do. It is about life in a young boys school. I highly recommend it!
