Great for Beginners

As a student artist, I look for books that are clear about basics and practical information about everything from materials to the initial steps in a process, to use of transparent and opaque colors and choosing subjects and making them come alive. When the subject matter is people, techniques and colors really matter and this book provides just the direction that a beginner needs. Applying her method fully does involve using a projector as well as paper and paint grades that might be pricey for a student but her reasons make sense. I will be looking at other books in her "no experience needed" series and hope my paintings will justify the expense of professional level materials. In the meantime, I have found it helpful to follow the author's suggestions, producing pleasing results even with student grade materials.
