Ho hum. A book with entries from some of the best contemporary English-speaking authors whose assignment was to write about an interaction/relationship from their travels…I expected it to be fascinating. Having traveled widely myself and read books by several of these authors, I was eager to expand on those experiences. Instead, I found many of the entries boring, or at least not engaging. Even if the location, circumstances and/or person were remarkable, the quality of the writing itself was often bland. Some of the entries did engage my interest, but many had the quality of a required school writing assignment that met the requirements but not the spirit. Disappointing overall.
