Nate is an illegal, but not because he comes from a long line of magical assassins. He was born with a magic that once toppled vile kingdoms and destroyed evil armies. The "Singers" were wiped from existence centuries ago, at least, that's what the world thought. Little does Nate know that he has the power of the "Singers" inside him, and that power will have great consequences one day. He has no clue that magic is real, or that some of his favorite teachers just happen to be monsters at Black River Preparatory School. In his last year of high school, his unpleasant world comes tumbling down, and transforms into a place of beauty and real danger. Now he's trying to balance grades, dating, and a voice so mesmerizing, it's deadly. To further complicate his life, something dark and sinister is lurking around the school at night, and Nate may be the only one who can thwart its dastardly agenda. Not only is Nate in a race against time with an unknown danger, but he must also choose to keep his powers to himself or save the world.
