We might not go around labeled according to what we are going through. Our lives may seem perfect when we are amongst others, while in reality we are suffering in silence. Our smiles might be beautiful while our hearts harbor pain and maybe even resentment. Most of us grow up fighting to undo the damage done to our loved ones, we hope to succeed in giving them the happiness that was snatched from them by the world they live in or the people they thought would give them love and protection. They cry and scream with the hope that someone might hear or someone would notice that something is amiss. They walk around with their heads hung low and their backs bent due to the weight they carry, weight they cannot share with anyone. They are afraid to share their sad stories, for fear of being labelled unfit or incompetent. Fingers openly pointed at them and people laughing at their misfortunes. Heart breaking whispers from those who are close to them,"they take after their mother," they would say. They silently ask, who will hear my cries and rescue me, who feels and sees the pain I am going through? All the while everyone has turned a blind eye, and we ask "what has this world come to"?The events in this book are based on a true story of a family going through a lot of hardships, a family whose lives were so hard that a mother who was a pillar to her children, was overcome with so much pain that she became mentally disturbed.
