My 11 year daughter claims this is her favorite author and has now read of all her children's novels.

Life handed her lemons and she made lemonade

Forced to leave Germany as a child because her Jewish father wrote forcefully against Hitler, her family was on the move for several years before finally settling in England, where she became a successful writer. Highly rated.
