This book is the answer. I have a very confusing professor and an incredibly boring O Chem book, but this book is short, and to the point. It tells you exactly what you need to know and is very good about giving the logical reason behind mechanisms. I only wish I had bought this book earlier when I was still studying basic O Chem because it would have helped me build a better foundation. One downfall of this book is that it does not always explicitly show you the curly arrows of mechanisms, and in that sense, you still need a professor to actively show that to you. But otherwise, this is an awesome book which does not put you to sleep and is very effective in presenting the main points of Organic Chemistry. Don't let the boring cover fool you! This one's a keeper.
