"Young viewers will find the fuzzy menagerie endearing, and they'll giggle through the rollicking kitty hunt" -- Bulletin for the Center for Children's Books Count the animals from one to twenty while searching for the cat in this lively hide-and-seek selection that introduces animals like frogs, whales, monkeys, ducks, hens and elephants.
My 2-year-old son has loved this book since he got it more than a year ago, and I love it too. The pictures are beautiful and fun to look at on their own, but now we like to count the animals on each page. Looking for the cat hiding on each page is the best part of all.
My favorite gift for toddlers

My own daughter (20 months) adores this book, and while I love most of the books in her collection, I have to say it's one of my favorites as well. I've given it to nearly all of our toddler friends as birthday gifts in the past year. This book has a number of levels, from finding the cat -- easy for the very young -- to recognizing animals, facilitating "animal sounds" discussions, counting, etc. And best of all, the art work is stunning. I have a feeling this book will become one of our enduring favorites.

The artwork in this book is amazing. I checked it out at the library for my 2.5 year old and now am buying it for our collection. The illustrations (appliques) are so colorful and creative. My boy enjoys looking for the cat and when he gets older, he can count the objects on each page. The author/illustrator is very creative. A wonderful addition to your library!
Wonderful Toddler Book

I highly recommend this lovely book. It is a big hit with my 20-month-old daughter. The illustrations (all needlepoint and sewing) are charming, the text is simple (perfect for an older baby or young toddler) and the idea is whimsical.
Where's the cat?

This is a book that is enjoyable for adults as well as children, even if there isn't really any storyline. (Then again, this IS a counting book.) The artwork is wonderful! The bright pages make me want to run to the craft store and try my hand at applique. My daughter (22 months) insists on hearing the book over and over, every day. She loves pointing out the cat (as well as the elephant on the back cover whenever we get to the elephant page). I plan on counting buttons and and beads with her in addition to the various creatures as she gets older. This is a counting book that will hold a childs interest longer than most.
