A well written collection of big game hunting stories
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
Warren Page recounts a lifetime of hunts in this absorbing collection of hunting tales. From Alaska to Africa and New Zealand he has hunted game animals that most hunters only dream of. This is not an action adventure tale loaded with what Page himself describes as, "Blood and Thunder Stories," but rather it is a realistic look at the pleasures and miseries of hunting various big game animals in the far reaches of the globe. As a well known writer of magazine articles each of the stories has the brief, to the point flavor of such articles, but they are all very well written. The book is broken down in sections with each of the sections containing stories from a particular continent. The entire book can be read from cover to cover or you can skip over the stories that don't interest you and read the ones that do. This is more a story of Warren Page's experiences as a hunter, than a hunting or firearms book, but there is much wildlife and firearms lore contained within it's pages. I read this book in the 1970's and I still take it down and re-read one of the stories from time to time. It's one of those books that will grab your sense of adventure and make you hungry for the hunt each time you read it.
