Boston's Little House Girl Meet Charlotte Tucker, the little girl who would grow up to be Laura Ingalls Wilder's grandmother. Winter is coming, and Charlotte's days are filled with cornhusking and candle dipping and helping Mama mind baby Mary. But the war is still going on, and Charlotte worries about Will, Papa's striker, who is marching north with the militia. Then one day Charlotte hears bells ringing from Boston, and that night every building in the town common is lit up with candles. Could it be that peace has finally come? On Tide Mill Lane is the second book in The Charlotte Years, an ongoing series about another spirited girl from America's most beloved pioneer family.
I loved the book and I am not ashamed to say it even though I am 49 years old! I love all the Little House Books and I look forward to reading them to my grandchildren(whenever I get some) or any other child!

All of Melissa Wiley's Little House books are very good; On Tide Mill Lane is no exception. I am extremely disappointed that we will never be able to hear the rest of Charlotte's and Martha's stories because she will not write them. The publisher's choice to lower the reading level of the books was not one of integrity, even if it did appear one of good business sense. Melissa's books are wonderful just as they are, and if they are too hard for some children, the children need to improve their reading skills. However, a much wider audience than young children enjoy and love Melissa's series about Charlotte and Martha. We are showing our support by buying all the books in both series that we did not yet have.
The Charlotte Years (On Tide Mill Lane)

This was a very good book. Charlotte Tucker (Quiner) is a little girl living in the outskirts of Boston. She has many household chores to do while her older siblings go to school. She is living during the War of 1812, and it takes place a little bit after her father's striker, Will leaves to fight in the army. They miss him a lot, but the winter days are filled with many chores, so they don't have a lot of time to reflect or think. Another worry also comes to mind when Lewis (Charlotte's brother) gets an infection from a splinter. This is a pioneer family you will never forget!
Ms. Wiley, write more Charlotte books!!

"Little House by Boston Bay" and the beloved "On Tide Mill Lane" are classics of the Charlotte Years. But they are also the only books of the Charlotte books. Ms. Melissa Wiley, write more Charlottes, and not to mention the Martha Years! Notify all your Little House fans the second you can!

This book is the sequel to the much beloved 'little house by Boston Bay. The end of the great war of 1812 is much celebrated, although Charlotte must feel the loss of her father's apprentice Will, who has yet to return to the comforts of their dear home in Roxbury. Her older brother Lew loses his little finger to infection, and the Tucker family sadly learns that Will must lose his leg to the same disease. Through infections and hurricanes and mortal disasters alike, they posess an inner courage and faith which unites them to look for a better tomorrow, and inspires us to do the same. With a delectable spice of humor thrown in, this book is a must-read.
