Galen, a Syrena prince, searches land for a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. It's while Emma is on vacation at the beach that she meets Galen. Although their connection is immediate and powerful, Galen's not fully convinced that Emma's the one he's been looking for. That is, until a deadly encounter with a shark proves that Emma and her Gift may be the only thing that can save his kingdom. He needs her help--no matter what the risk.
I absolutely adore this book, it was funny sweet and I didn't get irritated with the main character as much as normal, the romance was sweet but not overpowering and the friendships bult in this book are really fun to watch develop!
Almost perfect

This is an engaging story with a world that is well crafted, the characters' emotions seem real and it's cliffhanger, of course, made me want to read more.
If I had a complaint it would be that Emma(the female protagonist) is a little flat. Her emotions are realistic and she's not a Mary Sue by any account but I feel that without her emotional state on display there isn't anything left. Her goal and motivations seem to be limited to spur of the moment things such as: Kiss that guy and "I'm not going to drop out of school because of boyfriend and/or fins".
There's also this thing about heartrate being related to lifespan, which I can get behind but if a day of walking to and from classes in a high school is enough to get your heart rate up I'm not going to believe that your casual swim to the Arctic won't do the same thing, even if you do have a tail.
