Helped me pass the exam

This book covered the exam syllabus very well. I very much relied on this book and passed the OCP exam. The knowledge I gained from this book also enhanced my skills to administer our product's Oracle database.

Good Guidelines, Great For First Time Oracle Installation.

This book gives a general overview of what was present on the 1z0-411 exam. It is also an excellent resource for those who have not yet used Oracle, and wish to learn how to install it using Oracle Universal Installer. I used this in combination with Self Test Software's Practice Exam for 1z0-411 and passed on the first try. I only rated this book with 4 stars due to having the majority of the book describing the Universal Installer, and giving a broad overview of what was actually on the exam without many details. Good general book to understanding the basics of the Oracle 8i Database, and understanding what the different screens actually look like.

Covers The Content Of The DBO Class

Satisfactory coverage of the material in the Oracle class, but not an all-in-one resource for the exam. Keep in mind that even Oracle's class doesn't cover all of the material on the exam; attendees are supplied with CBTs containing 18 hours of SQL training to study on their own. For the SQL portion of the DBO exam, consider a guide aimed at preparation for exam 1Z0-001, the basic SQL PL/SQL exam, such as the "Oracle8i DBA SQL and PL/SQL Study Guide," ISBN: 0782126820.

Good book overall

This is a good book overall, however it is imprtant to note the strengths and weaknesses. It is the perfect balance of reading, hands-on, and review questions (they also do not have the anoying habit of including the answers immediately after the questions like the exam cram books). The CD is packed full of extras as well. The only downside of this package is the Install documentation; there are several errors in the Linux section, lots of steps left out in all of the installation procedures (Linux, NT, Netware). Don't expect this book to be of any use getting the database installed (I recommend the osborne "Oracle 8i Linux Starter Kit" for getting up and running). After the lousy install docs this book improves ten fold. BTW Oracle's Install documentation is pretty bad as well.

Great Book

I really loved this book. Not only does it help with the testbut it helps with day to day administration ! A must have !
