Nostradamus made simple-a surefire prophecy of success Michel Notredame, or Nostradamus (1503-1566), was a French physician, astrologer, and prophet whose books of visionary four-line verses have intrigued and beguiled readers for hundreds of years. Now, with this fun and easy guide, everyone can finally get a handle on Nostradamus and his "Centuries" of prophecies, which many people believe to have predicted the French Revolution, the rise of Hitler, the Kennedy assassination, and 9/11, among other events. The book covers Nostradamus's life and beliefs, his use of cryptic language and anagrams, interpretations of his work that link it to specific historical incidents, and critics who are skeptical of his prophecies. It also explores the implications of his work on the past, present, and future, and much more
I didn't know a whole lot about Nostradamus before reading this book except from several History Channel shows I'd seen about him recently. So, when I decided to learn more about his quatrains, I decided to go with a book from a series (for Dummies) that I knew I liked. This book doesn't go into all 900+ quatrains, but that's not its intention. It is a good book for an introduction into Nostradamus's quatrains, his background, and the history surrounding and behind many of the quatrains. This book, like the other Dummies books I've read is very easy to read, in an organized, easy-to-understand text. The author lets you know that various scholars have different interpretations of the quatrains, and she explains the meanings according to her understanding/interpretation by breaking down the quatrains line by line and giving clarification and background information without bogging readers down with a lot of hard to understand and technical mumbo jumbo. She presents quatrains that are believed to be about the same topic in each chapter including the French royalty/Medicis, World Wars/Hitler, French Revolution/Napoleon, and the Millenium. This book is not meant to be the end all/be all of Nostradamus. It is intended to be a good introduction and starting point to the study of his predictions and the author has done a good job of it.
