"Ted knows very well it's *his* bedtime, too."

A small girl is "washed and clean and ready for bed," but her most important bedtime companion is missing; Ted is nowhere to be found and "bed without Ted is not a good thing." The little girl -- along with her menagerie of dog, cats, kittens, rabbits and mice -- begin to search for Ted. Readers lift flaps and pull tabs when opening cupboards and drawers, lifting tableclothes and moving grandpa off the couch. As with all good bedtime read-alouds, there is happy ending with everyone curled up under the covers (one final flap).

A Very Fun Bedtime Story

No Bed Without Ted is a delightful lift-the-flap book about a little girl who won't go to bed until she's found her ted. The rhythmic text and comic-like illustrations make this a really fun book to share with a young child at bedtime. My four-year-old daughter enjoys reading this book at her bedtime. She likes lifting the flaps to see if ted is hiding under them. She thought that the surprise ending was rather funny too.

Along with an assortment of household pets, readers search in drawers, under Grandpa, under beds. The surprise of who, what and where is left for a suspenseful end. "No Bed Without Ted" has just about everything young children like in a book-short, rhyming text, energetic and whimsical illustrations that include plenty of animals (cats, dogs, rabbit, mice) acting silly, a situation they can identify with, and a surprise ending. It is constructed of sturdy, easy-to-turn pages and features large, easy-to-grasp flaps. All in all, a kid-friendly package!
