A fully revised and updated edition of the ultimate fan's guide to the music of Nirvana, exploring every minutiae of every recording session the band did right from the first demos recorded in Kurt... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Ignore Steve Fisk, even considering he's Steve Fisk. He didn't write a review, after all, but a cranky, dismissive haiku. It's great to have this detailed, analytical book about the actual music of Nirvana, free of all the dumb baggage that usually accompanies (and muddies) discussion of the band. And the book includes full descriptions of music that most of us will never be able to hear, plus countless little band memeber, producer and critic quotes to really flesh out the text. And yeah, Fisk, I'm sure the book has some errors. I can't imagine Fisk or anyone attempting a comprehensive history of Nirvana's actual recording work and getting it all accurate. So I actually hope the book goes into later editions, one that reflect the fixes only folks like Fisk and others would know (and I mean that). But what an awesome read, a story of the actual work that made Nirvana great, a biography of songs, of development, of the art behind the sad headlines, the stuff that must always be the reason to listen, to buy, and to seek bootlegs.
A good read. Studio details aren't for everyone.

But Rob makes it a good read for the layman. Nirvana are unique. In a short period of time they went from small independent labels to the "grand mal", and the sessions, studios and budgets tell their own story. Let's hope an update isn't too far off. I recorded Nirvana and I did not participate in this book. I originally trashed this book because of mixed up communications between Rob and I(all my fault BTW). Whenever a Nirvana booked is printed usually I'm miss-quoted or worse. Its no fun and it adds up. This is the fourth appology although its as heartfelt as the first.
