Because he is attracted to Nicole Stegman, a musician in the pep band, Josh Dutton, high school basketball star, befriends her mentally handicapped brother, who helps Josh learn to see people... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I will put what it says on the book: Josh has never met an opponent like Nicole. Smart, beautiful, a serious musician, and sassy, she is the master of the classic putdown. For her basketball-the love of Josh's life- is only "ten sweaty guys with bony knees chasing a ball and smelling like bad cheese." She is also enormously protective of a younger brother with special needs-the type of person, she assumes, who could never be accepted by someone with an ego as big as Josh's. Moreover, while Josh is preparing for a mission, Nicole is inactive, has a grudge against the church, and informs him Mormons are hypocrites. A woman like that can drive a guy crazy. Especially when she has the most beautiful jade green eyes he has ever seen. I loved this book it was a very good love story and had some sad parts but is an excellent read.
