Using an approach similar to his other "Back Side" books, J. Ellsworth Kalas opens up new possibilities of insight into selected New Testament stories by entering them through the "back side" -- through a unique starting point, a creative retelling, a new "lens", or the eyes of a minor or unsympathetic character. Includes 12 stories and a study guide.
Pastor Ellsworth does an admirable job of bringing Real-life situations into perspectives in the application of Scripture. In a series of books he has administered his Godly wisdom into a logical separation of titles, from the "Ten Commandments" to Old & New Testament Parables. For example he uses illustrations that are not commonly found in most Bible companion series, anywhere I've found. Pastor Ellsworth's personal anecdotes such as getting stranded in the 'bad' section of town with an automoble broken-down, and being helped by two accommodating gentlemen which he finds out through conversation they are employed by a Nude-Girlee emporium, and Pastor Ellsworth is reminded of the story of the Good Samaratin. The books are filled with illustrations that are rarely ones you've heard in Sunday School, but ones that present a genuine and honest application of the Christian Faith.
