Book Overview

"I don't want to hurt you, Leslie." Sara's words stung me. Of all the ways she could have said it, she'd chosen these specific words. Not "I won't hurt you," or "I'm not going to hurt you." Those words would have calmed my fears. But no. She chose "I don't want to hurt you."

Computer analyst Leslie Howard knows all too well that the fastest way to a broken heart is to ignore Lesbian Dating Rule Number One: Never, ever, get involved with a straight woman. Yet, despite her better judgment, and serious warnings from her friends, she finds herself battling a growing infatuation with her very straight--and very attractive--co-worker Sara Stevens.

Haunted by memories of past rejection, Leslie is understandably hesitant about coming out to Sara, yet she doesn't want to jeopardize their friendship by being dishonest about who she is. When Leslie finally trusts Sara enough to tell her she's a lesbian, Sara fulfills Leslie's worst fears and cuts her off.

Hurt and angry with herself, Leslie vows never to trust Sara again, and seeks solace in the arms of a seductive young golf pro. When Sara sees Leslie with her new lover, she is forced to confront her own hidden desires. Then, a long business trip together turns into an emotional tug-of-war, as Leslie and Sara struggle to control the raging passions that could bring them together--or tear them apart.

A book worth reading

Well written, believeable characters, interesting from start to finish. Just the right blend of humor and drama. Just damn fine work.

Simply... WOW...

I tucked my kids in, grabbed the coffee pot and headed for the recliner about 9pm. Two decaf pots later, I finished this wonderful book about a lesbian who falls in love with a "straight" co-worker. Leslie Howard is afraid of breaking the cardinal rule (Never get involved with a straight woman), and fights the undeniable attraction she feels toward Sara Stevens. Sara sends mixed signals, especially when she finds out Leslie is gay. This book is well-written. Yes, there is profanity, but it is used appropriately. I fell in love with the characters. It was hard not to cry for Leslie, get angry with Sara, or empathize with their friends and co-workers. I was sad to see it end.

MY FAVORITE BOOK YET!

This book was exceptionally written! I don't like to give away the plot of a book like I've seen in other reviews. This book is definately what you are looking for in this catagory. The characters are well developed. Don't let the slightly slow start get you down.

I fell in love with the book I read it in one night

I found my self really getting into the book! I found my self connecting with Leslie and cheering when Sara came back! The characters seemed so real to me! I felt as if they were a part of my Life. I Loved the book!

One of the best...

Even though this book was published in 1996, it is still one of the best comtemporary romance novels I've read in a long time. The characters are believable and the storyline has several twists and turns. Often I found myself saying...I once said that also! I truly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed...
