For the first time, the Old Testament and New Testament editions of the popular My Very First Bible have been combined into one volume. Designed with extraordinary illustrations that will capture even... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I cannot reccommend these Bibles enough. I have seen and read the Focus on the Family bible and all the other cutesy cartooney bibles and nothing compares to these for this age group. I am extremely please and the only problem I have with them is that the characters do not wear talit's and stay true to biblical customs...
The best children's Bible I've seen
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
I bought this at a Christian bookstore because of the humorous and engaging illustrations by Russ Flint. The text, by Sattgast, is equally well-written and reads like a bedtime story, so my children have always enjoyed listening to it. As my son got older, I used it as an early reader book. Now my son is reading it to my 5-year-old. I have received other children's Bibles as gifts: the illustrations are usually wooden and characterless and the text is either boring or difficult for my youngster to understand. This Bible beats all others hands down and my children's attention and enjoyment of it is proof!
Excellent for Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers

Russ Flint's illustrations are wonderful for the youngest readers of the bible. The text is a bit sparse, and sometimes a bit edited when it comes to subjects covered, but for a toddler or pre-schooler its perfect. My children are now 4 and 6 and are starting to grow out of it, but they still love the expressive, exaggerated and sometimes outright goofy illustrations in the book. A perfect edition to start reading to the youngest children.

I grow weary, sometimes, of illustrations using stuffy, statue-like figures to represent people of faith. The most godly people I've known have also, to a great extent, been some of the most animated, fun people. The people (as well as angels and animals) in this book are alive! The pictures remind me of Norman Rockwell's work, except with much more action. They are fun and exciting to look at. As I read to my son from _My Very First Bible_, the characters came to life, not just for him, but for me as well. When Mary, at the tomb, first recognizes Jesus, she leaps into the air, arms reaching for Him, and you can tell by the wide grin on His face that He's not just glad to see her, but amused at her antics. I have to admit I shed some tears of joy with her, and so did my boy. Our Lord laughs a lot in these pages. I like to think He was (is) like that. The text is simple and short. Paraphrasing is true to the Biblical meaning, with minimal interpretation or speculation, which are real problems with some children's books. Our son is just beginning to read, and he can read this book. Several of our friends have bought this book after seeing ours. You should, too.
