Creating with strings, fingers, rollers, straws, and other super techniques: no wonder this entry in Lark's fabulous new art series will have kids saying " I love to paint! " It's amazing what even the littlest ones can achieve when they practice on projects that feel like pure fun--not work. And one look at these cheerful, kid-friendly activities will have youngsters begging for a brush and paper. With everything from landscapes to classic still lifes, there's plenty here to fill up an entire refrigerator gallery. While creating finished pieces that will brighten every parent's heart, budding painters will easily master such techniques as mixing colors, brushwork, and creating texture with sponging, ragging and spattering. Filled with plenty of practical tips, creative ideas, and beautiful hand-painted illustrations, I Love to Paint guides new artists through the entire process--and will have them returning again and again, finding new skills to master as they get older.
I teach a little art class for two to four year olds at my library, and as soon as I got Lipsey's book I used her enticing "Blob & Blot" lesson on them. They loved it! Many of her lessons will be over their head, but I'll keep turning to her clear illustrations and brightly colored examples for inspiration. Her happy enjoyment of her materials really comes through.
Best art book for kids...and adults!

I have purchased all of Jennifer's books for my grandchildren as well as friends and neighbors. They are a wonderful reference book for any type of art work. I found myself browsing the finger painting one yesterday to make a simple ant, lady bug, bumble bee picture. All 3 were in there and very easy and fun...even for a fifty year old. Money well spent for hours of interactive fun. Kim
Great open-ended art for all ages!

I checked this book out of the library and was very impressed. The art experiences in this book are open-ended which means the possibilities are up to the child. It is very simple and to the point and most of the materials you already have around the house. Although this book is directed to school age children as it is intended for them to read- parents can take the ideas and gear it toward younger children. The book provides step-by-step color illustrations of every activity. A must buy for anyone wanting to develop the creative spirit!
