He partially defeats his shyness and finds love. He learns to defend himself when confronted. And, most important, meets an older man who becomes his mentor and surrogate father. As Danny becomes stronger and more confident, Rachel's life becomes untenable and he enters her world in an effort to save her. There he faces danger and ultimately great loss. This is a story of loss and of growth that comes from challenges.
